American rapper, record producer Dr. Dre is reported to be in the Intensive Care Unit following a brain aneurysm, TMZ reported today (06).

The 55-year-old rapper had suffered the aneurysm Monday (04) and was rushed to the Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

While the cause of the bleeding is yet to be uncovered, he is reported to be undergoing tests currently.

High blood pressure is the leading cause of a subarachnoid hemorrhage and heavy lifting or strain can cause the aneurysm to rupture.

Dr. Dre is currently involved in divorce proceedings with his estranged wife, Nicole Young after filing to end their marriage on irreconcilable differences.

According to reports, Young is seeking nearly US$2million in monthly spousal support payments and $5 million for attorney fees from Dre's estimated US$1 billion business empire.

However, Dre already pays Young US$293,306 per month through a court order. Dre had already been paying Young's living expenses and moved out of their Malibu estate. As a result, a judge threw out her request.

The divorce case revolves around the prenuptial agreement she had reportedly signed in 1996. Young believes that the contract must be considered null and void after Dre had allegedly ripped it up one night as a romantic gesture.
