The Colombo High Court informed the Kaduwela Magistrate today to grant bail for former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa and Divi Neguma Department’s Director General R.A.P. Ranawaka.
High Court Judge M.C.B. Morayas revised the previous order issued by the Kaduwela Magistrate rejecting bail for the two suspects.
Accordingly, the High Court Judge informed the Kaduwela Magistrate of the High Court order via telephone and fax.
FCID arrested Basil Rajapaksa and Ranawaka on July 18th in connection with allegations of a 4.3 million rupees fraud committed in the now defunct Divi Neguma Department.
Both Rajapaksa and Ranawaka filed a revised bail application with the Colombo High Court.
Meanwhile our Court correspondent stated that the former minister had arrived to Court by ambulance from the hospital.
