State Minister of Resettlement and Rehabilitation M. L. A. M. Hizbullah says that approximately 1 billion rupees will be required to compensate those who were impacted by the recent riots in the Kandy administrative district.
He disclosed this at a function held in Colombo yesterday.
Meanwhile, compensation payouts to persons who were injured in the 2014 riots that broke out in Aluthgama and Beruwala took place yesterday (Mar. 22).
Reports say that according to cabinet decision, a sum of 12 million rupees was allocated to the 12 injured victims and the families of the three persons who were killed.
