MV X-Press Pearl ignored MEPA instructions (Video)

Chairperson of the Marine Environment Protection Authority, Attorney-at-Law Dharshani Lahandapura says that she will receive the report on the fuel stock of the MV X-Press Pearl during the weekend.

The vessel is currently sinking due to the fire.

Speaking to the Hiru news team she said that although she had written to the ship to take it to the deeper sea areas, it had not happened.

She stated that an investigation is underway in this regard as well.
