The Cabinet has approved using local funds to complete the remaining work on the Kohuwala and Gatambe flyover projects.
These projects, which began with financial assistance from the Hungarian government, were halted due to the country's economic crisis.
While the construction of the Kohuwala flyover was completed and opened for traffic using the contractor's funds, the ground-level pedestrian pathways were not finished.
This has caused inconvenience to pedestrians.
The government has decided to use local funds to complete this work through the same contractor.
Similarly, construction on the Gatambe flyover, which was also suspended due to a lack of funds, will now resume using local money.
The proposal to restart these projects was submitted by the Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation.
