New technology used to manage school textbooks

The Ministry of Education and the Department of Educational Publications introduced several new technical measures to streamline the procurement, storage, distribution, and inventory control of school textbooks.

This information surfaced during a recent meeting of the Committee on Public Accounts in Parliament, held to review the Auditor General’s reports for 2021 and 2024, alongside the current performance of the Department of Educational Publications.

A new computerised data system launched in 2024 allows for the direct collection of information regarding student numbers, existing textbook stocks, and reusable books across all schools.
