Sri Lanka has secured the first place in civil aviation safety in South Asia in 2018.
According to the preliminary results released by International Civil Aviation Organization, Sri Lanka has shown 88.57 % of overall Effective Implementation of International Standards and Recommended Practices in Sri Lanka.
The Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka, H. M. C. Nimalsiri said it is an increase of 1.21 % compared to the performance recorded at the previous audit conducted in 2010.
A team of six ICAO certified auditors visited Sri Lanka for the conduct of the audit last month under the Continuous Monitoring Assessment.
The ICAO launched the assessment under the Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme in 2005.
