A veteran sports administrator of Sri Lanka and a respected figure in athletics, Prema Pinnawala, has passed away. He was 88 years old at the time of his death.
He was appointed Secretary of the National Olympic Committee in 1983 and served in that position for 15 years.
He also made a significant contribution to the sport after being appointed Secretary of the Athletics Association in 1988. He stepped down from sports administration in 2023 due to illness.
