Dethroned beauty queen Pushpika de Silva has shared her side of the story, the first response since the controversial event last night. The translated post is as follows;
My dear, respectable, intelligent Sri Lankans and people all over the world,
I already know that you are looking forward to my response to this unexpected event. There is so much to say, but I will only mention some of the essentials here.
First of all, I would like to express my respect and gratitude to the jury that selected me to win the Mrs World 2020 pageant.
Secondly, I think for the first time in the history of Mrs World, not only in Sri Lanka, but in the history of the world, my crown has been snatched in front of everyone in such an insulting manner, but as of this writing, I keep my head straight and proud as before and for me this is just another incident.
The pain of the injuries I suffered when the crown was grabbed from my head, and the pain when I lost the crown cannot be compared to the hurt when my little son looks at my wounds and asks me " Ammi your head is injured, does it hurt you".
But as for me, as a single woman, this is a historic moment where men and women all over the world, regardless of party affiliation, race, religion or caste have stood up. I say that this love from all of you is a tremendous strength to me at this time.
On the other hand, I am not a divorced woman.
As of this writing, I responsibly state that I am not a divorced woman.
If I am divorced, I challenge them to submit my divorce papers. I have not hidden from the world that I am with my child.
I also have personal reasons for staying that way. But, separation is one thing. Divorce is a separate matter. I'm not divorced yet.
If was not qualified for the contest at the outset, they would have removed me. They weren’t asleep until I came this far, passing the rest of the competitions one by one.
I was the 2011 Miss Sri Lanka. Ten years later, I was crowned Mrs Sri Lanka by the decision of the jury last night. At that moment I became Mrs Sri Lanka in the hearts of all of you in Sri Lanka and in the world.
So, even though the symbolic crown has been snatched from my head, I would like to inform you that I have already taken the necessary legal action against the injustice and insult that took place.
"Finally, I say that a true queen is not a woman who snatches the crown of another woman, but a woman who secretly prepares the crown of another woman" !!!

One of the comments on her page states - "Caroline Jurie ridiculed the whole meaning of Mrs. Sri Lanka title. The title is meant to lift up the women and not to put them down and humiliate them. No point of interviews with flowery words and glamorous gowns, the heart, mind and soul should be pure and true to the cause. She demonstrated her true colours and ugliness of her soul by this cheap act. There’s a civilised way a crowned queen should handle a delicate matter. This is bad example for the young generation and a huge black mark for the country".
Another comment read as follows "Any beauty pageants discriminate someone at some point in my personal observation which you or I cannot do anything about due to the particular set of entry criteria, Rules and regulations those pageants consist of.
Ex. In order to enter into Mrs. World, contestants should be a naturally born woman and the spouse should be a naturally born man that discriminates Transgender and stop them from entering into the event.
Further as per the Mrs. World rules, the contestants should be married for certain period of time and should be living with the spouse that discriminate Widows, Single parents and Divorcees at this point.
As per above criteria the said contestant will automatically be disqualified at the world event and shouldn’t be included in the local level which may sound very rude and inhuman however everyone must obey the rules in order to proceed and there’s no two words about it.
Even on the entry form they ask the name of the Husband and the date of Marriage to check on those requirements perhaps. My question here is whether the judging panel and the basic selectors were not aware of what they are up to or they simply wanted to break rules that might end up humiliating entire country at the International level if any contestant showed up at the event whilst the initial entry requirements already being violated..?!?
If Pushpika De Silva had hidden information on her application (I am not sure whether anyone can do it as to what those are essential information to be provided) well knowing that she doesn’t fulfill the entry criteria already having experienced these kind pageants in the past, you must accept that you are a double disqualifier by deliberately try manipulating events in International caliber as such".
