Legendary cricketer Kumar Sangakkara has been appointed as the captain of the Sri Lankan team for the upcoming International Masters League (IML) cricket tournament.
The tournament, which runs from November 17 to December 8, will feature a total of 18 matches. Six countries—Sri Lanka, India, Australia, England, West Indies, and South Africa—will compete under the hosting of India.
In addition to Sangakkara, other notable captains include Sachin Tendulkar for India, Shane Watson for Australia, Eoin Morgan for England, Brian Lara for the West Indies, and Jacques Kallis for South Africa.
The opening matches will take place at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai, starting with an exciting clash between India and Sri Lanka on November 17. Following the initial leg in Mumbai, the tournament will move to Lucknow for six matches, beginning with India facing South Africa on November 21.
The final leg of the tournament is set to occur in Raipur, where the semi-finals and the final will be played on December 8 at the Shaheed Vir Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium.
