Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa visited the Welikada Prison today (25) to meet with former Minister Johnston Fernando, who is currently in remand custody.
Fernando was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department on October 23 in connection with an unregistered BMW-type car assembled in Sri Lanka that was discovered in the car park of the Hilton Hotel in Colombo.
Fernando was taken into custody after arriving to provide a statement on the matter. Following his appearance before Fort Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali, he was ordered to be remanded until October 30.
