There are growing suspicions that the security camera footage from the bus involved in the Hatton-Malliyappu accident has been deleted. The incident, which occurred yesterday, resulted in the death of three passengers and injuries to 53 others, who were hospitalized.
Police Media Spokesperson, Senior Superintendent of Police Buddhika Manatunga, stated that the data storage system containing the footage will be referred to the University of Moratuwa for further investigation. He also confirmed that the system has already been handed over to the Police Information Division for analysis.
The private bus, which was traveling from Hatton to Kandy, veered off the road in the Malliyappu area, leading to the fatal accident. The police are now investigating the potential deletion of crucial evidence related to the incident.
