TRCSL approves Starlink satellite broadband tariff plans

The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) has approved tariff plans for Starlink satellite broadband services, which will be offered through Starlink Lanka (Private) Ltd. The approved packages range from Rs. 9,200 to Rs. 1.8 million per month, catering to residential, fixed, and mobile users.

TRCSL-approved packages:
Residential (Fixed)

Price: Rs. 15,000/month (unlimited residential data).
Download speed: 50-200 Mbps.
Upload speed: 20-40 Mbps.

Residential Lite (Fixed)
Price: Rs. 9,200/month (unlimited deprioritized data).
Download speed: 30-100 Mbps.
Upload speed: 5-25 Mbps.

Priority (Fixed)

Monthly plans:
Rs. 20,994.24 (40 GB of priority data).
Rs. 62,859.24 (1 TB of priority data).
Rs. 125,965.46 (2 TB of priority data).
Rs. 377,896.39 (6 TB of priority data).

Additional charge: Rs. 125.58/GB for data exceeding subscribed levels.

Roam (Mobility)

Monthly plans:
Rs. 27,000 (regional service).
Rs. 145,000 (global service).
Download speed: 30-100 Mbps.
Upload speed: 5-25 Mbps.
Mobile Priority (Mobility)

Monthly plans:
Rs. 92,374.67 (50 GB of priority data).
Rs. 370,486.66 (1 TB of priority data).
Rs. 1,852,433.28 (5 TB of priority data).
Additional charge: Rs. 738.71/GB for exceeding subscribed levels.

Notes:
Plan validity: Starts upon kit activation or 30 days after shipment, whichever is earlier.
Billing: Prepaid.
Speed: Download speeds range from 30-220 Mbps, while upload speeds range from 5-40 Mbps.
Flexibility: Customers can cancel services anytime without early termination fees.

These packages are expected to expand internet accessibility and cater to diverse user needs in Sri Lanka. However, Starlink has stated that speeds and uninterrupted service are not guaranteed.
