Former President Mahinda Rajapakse decides to remain in active politics

Former president Mahinda Rajapaksa said that he would sit in parliament and continue to render his service towards the country and the nation.

He stated this in a statement issued following the conclusion of the 2015 General Election.

In the statement, he said that he would continuously engage in politics according to the people’s mandate he received in the election.

He also said in the statement that he humbly accepted the results of the election and, thanked all those who voted for the alliance and others who made commitments towards the party.
