Road between Pettah and Fort closed due to disabled war hero’s protest

The protest launched by the War Heroes Rights Protection Association demanding the proposed service pension is still continuing.

The protesters started the demonstration from Fort Railway station this morning and marched towards the Presidential secretariat.

Later, 6 members of the group were allowed to enter the Presidential Secretariat to hand over a petition.

Meanwhile, Police closed the road leading to Galle Face from Lotus Roundabout due to the protest.

Later, protesters sat on the road in front of Fort Railway station and continued the demonstration.

Road towards Fort was closed nearly 4 hours due to the protest.

Chairman of the War Heroes Rights Protection Association Corporal U.D. Wasantha told our news team that the agitation will not be stopped until their demands are met.
