President advises officials to allow the two rare wild elephants to continue to remain at the Sinharaja forest reserve.

He told if it is to be done it should be done after obtaining the expert view of professionals who can conduct a scientific study.

The instructions were issued during a discussion with the officials of the Mahaweli Development and Environment today (Jun 14).

The officials were also instructed to speed up the construction of an elephant fence to avoid those elephants encroaching the nearby human habitat of the Sinharaja forest.
