President’s Counsel Kalinga Indatissa was elected as the new President of the Sri Lanka Bar Association by a majority vote of 3356.
The bar association conducted voting at 83 centres around the island yesterday.
Kalinga Indatissa won by 4702 votes.
Attorney-at-law Mahinda Lokugey who also contested for the post received only 1346 votes.
Attorney-at-law Koushalya Navaratne was elected as the association’s secretary by a majority vote of 5061, attorney-at-law Saman WaeliAnga who also contested polled only 898 votes.
Solicitor General President’s Counsel Dappula de Livera served as the Chief Returning Officer at the election.
