Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Pushpakumara Battage told Hiru news team that this decision was taken after a special meeting held at the Matara District Secretariat.
Speaking further, the Chairman stated that it was decided not to allow any construction to be carried out at that location.
This place has been a place of attraction for local and foreign tourists for a long time.
There was a heated discussion on social media regarding the installation of concrete pillars in this area.
A subsequent search by Hiru news team revealed that the land belonged to a Sri Lankan and a foreigner.
It has about 400 perches, of which 80 perches are owned by the foreigner. The other 320 perches are owned by the Sri Lankan.
The Sri Lankan owner has taken steps to install concrete pillars in this area.
