Dhammika Bandara of Kegalle famed for his alleged covid syrup has admitted at the Kegalle SSP's office today that he had assaulted a dentist at the Peradeniya Hospital at his home.
However, he has stated that it was not he who assaulted but 'Kali' who assaulted the dentist.
Dhammika Bandara had assaulted the dentist Dr. S.A.R. Maddumabandara at the Peradeniya Hospital .
The dentist lodged a complaint with the Peradeniya Police alleging that Dhammika Bandara had assaulted him when he visited his house recently.
The complaint was later transferred to the Kegalle Police and later to the Warakapola Police.
They had then forwarded it to the Kegalle Divisional Anti-Corruption Bureau under the Kegalle SSP and the two parties were summoned today for an inquiry.
Dhammika Bandara also released a video to the media yesterday with an alleged confession from the dentist. .
Responding to a question raised by a journalist, Dhammika Bandara said that he had only warned the doctor.
However, Dhammika Bandara admitted at the police station today that he had assaulted the doctor and had forcibly recorded a video of the doctor making a confession.
The doctor who was assaulted stated that Dhammika Bandara had publicly apologized to the media for the offenses committed during the incident and therefore steps had been taken to settle the complaint.
After reaching a settlement, Dhammika Bandara left the police in his luxury Prado without commenting to the media.
Dhammika Bandara produced a syrup claiming that it would suppress the coronavirus and many people who drank it had contracted the coronavirus.
Several people who followed instructions according to Dhammika Bandara by abstaining from meats and consumed the syrup told Hirunews that they had contracted the coronavirus.
State Minister Piyal Nishantha who contracted the virus recently and Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi who is positive for coronavirus also drank the syrup.
