A tense situation arose at the Mrs. Sri Lanka World pageant event which was held at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre, Colombo yesterday (04), which has become a much talked about topic in the community.
Contestant 20, Mrs. Pushpika de Silva was announced as the winner and was awarded the crown by the Chief Guest of the event.
However, as the winner was on her victory walk, Mrs. World 2020 and outgoing Mrs. Sri Lanka, Caroline Jurie announced that since there is a rule in the Mrs. World pageant that the contestant must be married and cannot be a divorcee, the winner who was awarded the crown moments ago was disqualified.
Then Mrs Jurie moved to announce that the first runner-up of the event, was the winner of the night.
In a sudden turn of events, Mrs. World 2020 Caroline Jurie, removed the crown that the Contestant 20 was wearing and placed the same on the new winner.
