The Kollupitiya Police arrested two suspects in connection with a case of defrauding customers of over Rs. 120 million by promising them modern smartphones at low prices.
Hiru CIA recently reported the details of this racket which was carried out through advertisements on social media.
So far more than 300 victims of the scam have lodged complaints with the Kollupitiya Police.
Commenting on the incident, the OIC of the Kollupitiya Police stated that according to the complaints received so far, information has come to light that these individuals have swindled over Rs. 120 million.
A special police team of the Kollupitiya Police is conducting further investigations into the incident and the OIC further stated that anyone who has not yet lodged a complaint against the relevant fraudster should come to the Kollupitiya Police and lodge a complaint immediately.
