Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated that three persons including the driver of the Puttalam Municipal Council Chairman Abdul Baiz Kamardeen were arrested in connection with his death.
A breath test conducted by the police revealed that they were under the influence of alcohol.
The Police Media Spokesman stated that the Chairman was hospitalized after being injured in an accident on the Eluwankulama - Ralmaduwa Road yesterday (23) afternoon.
He succumbed to his injuries while being admitted to the hospital and the body of the Chairman was placed at the Puttalam Hospital morgue.
