Asela Sampath, the national organizer of All Ceylon Restaurant Owners' Association arrested by the CID has been released on bail.
He was produced before Colombo Additional Magistrate Kanchana Neranjani de Silva today (26).
He was released on two sureties of Rs. 500,000 each by the Magistrate.
Police Media Spokesperson Senior DIG Ajith Rohana stated that Consumer Rights Protection Organization Chairperson Asela Sampath was arrested last night (25), from Pelanwatta, Piliyandala.
He stated that the suspect was taken into CID custody for spreading false propaganda on social media regarding the AstraZeneca COVID vaccine being given in the country.
The arrest was made following a complaint lodged by the General Superintendent of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA).
