Pallama Dagoba at the brink of destruction (Video)

The responsibility that lies with the authorities to conserve and preserve the heritage of the ancient kingdoms for the future generation is not something to debate about.

However, news was reported from Pallama, Puttalam an ancient dagoba that was being destroyed due to the negligence of the authorities.

This is the current situation of the Pallama Historical Sri Nandimithra Nawa Vanguwa Rajamaha Viharaya which was made in 'Padmakara' shape.

The history of the country testifies that this dagoba was built during King Dutugemunu's reign by the giant Nandimithra on the border of the Deduru Oya.

Although excavations were carried out with the permission of the Board of Trustees while constructing a temporary structure around the dagoba which has now collapsed as well.

Isn't it the responsibility of the Department of Archaeology to preserve such past heritages for future generations, without allowing them to perish?
