Former Director General of Archeology Dr. Senarath Dissanayake stated that approval for the land required for the construction of Sandahiru Seya was acquired forcibly.
In an interview with YOU TUBE, Senarath Dissanayake stated he had asked the current government not to build a stupa at this location.
He further stated that if it is essential to build a stupa, he stated that steps should be taken to build a smaller stupa.
He stated that the money spent on it was a national crime and that it would have been more appropriate if the money had been spent on war heroes.
