Hiru TV News Division won several awards including the Best News Anchor and the Best Investigative News Reporting.at the 2023 Sumathi Awards ceremony which was held at the Water's Age Hotel in Colombo today (Feb. 09).
This year’s ceremony presented awards for television programmes aired in the years 2020 and 2021
Roshini Wijesuriya of Hiru TV News Division won the Best Television News Anchor category award for 2021
Puraka Panuka Rajapaksa of Hiru News Department won the award for the best television investigative news reporting in 2021 for exposing to the country the coconut oil contamination story.
Hiru TV News Division also won the second place in the 2021 News Reporting on Current Affairs.
Meanwhile, Hiru TV also won the award for the best one-part TV drama of 2021.
The award was won for the best tele drama in the single episode category for 'Senehasaka Nimnaya' directed by Irusha de Silva.
