MP Uddika Premaratne disappointed that envisioned systemic change had not yet materialize decides to be independent (Video)

Colombo, Sri Lanka - Member of Parliament Uddika Premaratne, representing the National Freedom Front, made a significant announcement in Parliament today (06) by declaring his intention to work as an independent Member of Parliament henceforth.

In his statement before the Parliament, MP Uddika Premaratne explained that when he first entered Parliament in 2020, his primary goal was to advocate for systemic change in the country. He expressed his disappointment that despite his efforts and those of his colleagues, the envisioned systemic change had not yet materialized either in society or within the parliamentary system.

Despite the challenges and setbacks, MP Uddika Premaratne remains committed to his mission of effecting positive change in Sri Lankan society. He emphasized his determination to lead this change and extended an open invitation to all true and well-meaning citizens, irrespective of narrow political interests, to join him in this endeavor.

As a tangible step towards realizing his vision, Member of Parliament Uddika Premaratne declared his decision to operate independently in Parliament, signaling a new chapter in his political journey.

Uddika Premaratne had been elected to Parliament representing the Anuradhapura district under the banner of the National Freedom Front, led by Wimal Weerawansa, in the previous general election.
