Sri Lanka's first TV news presenter Sumana Nellampitiya passes away

Sumana Nellampitiya, Sri Lanka's first television news anchor, has passed away at the age of 80.

Before embarking on her media career, Nellampitiya served as an Air Force officer.

She began her journey in broadcasting in 1967 as a radio announcer, marking the start of her influential career in media.
