Veteran Sri Lankan film producer and director Lionel Fernando passes away

Alaric Lionel Fernando, a prominent film producer and director who significantly contributed to Sri Lankan cinema for over four decades, has passed away.

Fernando began his cinematic journey in 1978 with the film Anupama and went on to produce several beloved films, including Christu Charithaya, Kirisuvandha, Randhamvel, Mavila PeneviRupe, Dalulana Gini, Senehasa Pava, Ardhana Pujasane, and Sanda Taraka.

His final rites are scheduled for the evening of Wednesday, August 14, at the Kandana Roman Catholic Cemetery in Nagoda.
