Secretary of Ministry of Education warns against collecting money from parents for school events
The Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, J. M. Tilaka Jayasundara, has highlighted that the practice of collecting money from parents for school events has created problems, particularly affecting parents and students. Teachers and principals have also faced challenges due to this situation, she added.
In a letter addressed to Provincial Education Secretaries, Provincial Education Directors, Regional Education Directors, Divisional Directors, and Principals of both government and approved private schools, the Secretary emphasized that principals must prevent such problematic situations from arising in schools.
She further stressed that schools should not collect money from parents for the organization of such events.
