A sudden fault at the Panadura electricity substation caused a nationwide power outage for several hours this afternoon.
Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody stated that the main cause of the outage was a monkey hitting a transformer at the Panadura substation. The minister released photographs to the media showing the monkey lying dead at the site, claiming it was responsible for the disruption.
