A fire that erupted in the Castlereagh Reserve near the Castlereagh Reservoir today (23) has destroyed approximately five acres of land.
Security officers suspect that the fire, which spread across multiple areas of the reserve, may have been deliberately set. The reserve contains a large amount of dry firewood, making it highly susceptible to flames.
Meanwhile, engineers in charge of the reservoir report that the water level has dropped by 22 feet from the overflow level due to ongoing dry weather conditions.
