PC granted bail in Mount Lavinia lawyer assault case

The police constable who was accused of assaulting a lawyer in Mount Lavinia has been granted bail by the Mount Lavinia Magistrate's Court.


The bail was set at two surety bails of Rs. 200,000 each.


The court also ordered that the incident be referred to a Conciliation Board for mediation.


The case has been postponed until November 14, 2025.


The police officer was arrested by Mount Lavinia Police following a complaint that he had allegedly assaulted a lawyer on 10 October 2025 during an incident that occurred while the lawyer was taking his car out of the Mount Lavinia Court premises.


The officer was initially remanded until today, (13), before being granted bail.
