Five workers from the Brownlow Tea Estate in Maskeliya are receiving treatment at the Maskeliya District Hospital after being targeted by wasps this afternoon. The incident occurred when a large nest in a turpentine tree became disturbed, leading the insects to chase and strike those nearby.
Hospital sources confirmed that while the workers required medical admission, their conditions remain stable and are not considered life-threatening. The affected individuals described the ordeal as a sudden and aggressive pursuit following the nest's disruption.
