Complaints of physical and psychological indecent treatment, child neglect and abandonment are on the rise, according to the National Child Protection Authority.
The authority pointed out that it receives between 600 to 1,000 complaints each month.
Under the Penal Code, parents found guilty of such offences are liable to face a prison term ranging from two to ten years, NCPA legal experts emphasised.
