The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption informed Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today (28) that investigations into the case filed against former Moratuwa Municipal Council Mayor Saman Lal Fernando over a corruption allegation were completed.
Accordingly, the Bribery Commission requested a future date from the court to call the case, as steps were taken to send the extracts to the Commission for filing.
The suspect was released on bail over an incident where he allegedly caused a loss to the government by making payments for 112 development project contracts of the Moratuwa Municipal Council under the Maga Neguma Urban and Rural Road Development Project to his close associates in violation of financial regulations.
The case related to the incident is scheduled to be called again on 18 December.
