The Colombo Crimes Division has been granted permission by the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court to record a statement from Ishara Sewwandi, a suspect currently held in remand custody at the Angunukolapelessa Prison in connection with the murder of Ganemulla Sanjeeva.
The order was issued today by Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama following a motion filed by the Colombo Crimes Division. Presenting facts to the court, investigating officers stated that questioning the suspect was essential for the ongoing investigations into the homicide.
The court allowed officers from the Colombo Crimes Division to visit the Angunukolapelessa Prison on the 2nd to record the required statement, and directed the Superintendent of Prisons to make the necessary arrangements.
