Container truck overturns, blocks lane on Horana-Colombo road

Moragahahena police state that a container truck overturned near the Gonapola junction on the Horana-Colombo road around 1.00 am today (29), blocking one lane of the road.

Police say this incident occurred when the consignment was being transported towards Colombo from a soft drink manufacturing factory in the Horana industrial zone to the Colombo port, while proceeding past the Gonapola junction.

Due to the driver of the container truck taking the bend in the area where the accident occurred, the vehicle veered off the road, damaged three flower pots placed in the middle of the road, and overturned, blocking one lane.

Police say that only the driver of the container truck was inside it at the time of the accident.

Police mention that this is the second container collision occurring within 6 hours on Route 120 in the Moragahahena police division along with the incident.

Moragahahena police are conducting investigations into the incident.
