Sevanagala Sugar Factory closed until further notice

The management of the Sevanagala Sugar Factory has decided to temporarily suspend production activities from today (29) until further notice.

According to a notice issued by the management, the factory’s normal operations and production activities have been severely disrupted since the 25th after a group of employees withdrew from their duties and failed to commence production work.

The management stated that the situation has also had an adverse impact on the company’s financial position.

However, essential services at the factory will continue to operate during the temporary closure.

Accordingly, the vacuum pans, crystallizers, centrifuges, weighing stations, sugarcane yard, water supply, electrical, power plant, pumping, security, firefighting and cultivation sections will continue to function as essential services.

All other administrative and service sections will remain temporarily closed without a specified reopening date.
