National Organiser of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa, was ordered to be remanded in custody until the 18th in connection with an allegation of accepting a bribe of Rs. 100 million said to have occurred during the Airbus transaction regarding the purchase of aircraft for SriLankan Airlines.
That was when he was presented before the court after being arrested; he appeared before the Bribery Commission this morning (04) to provide a statement regarding the relevant investigation.
This investigation is being conducted regarding receiving an equivalent sum of Rs. 100 million on several occasions by having USD 800,000 deposited into an account belonging to a company named Sabre Vision Holdings LTD owned by a Sri Lankan businessman, from the sum of 1,454,651.24 euros received as a bribe into the account of BIZ Solutions INC at Standard Chartered Bank in Singapore.
