Politician and trade union leader Somaweera Chandrasiri states that Sri Lanka Transportation Board has cancelled the Joint Opposition’s reservation of Shalika Ground in fear of the splendor of their May Day rally.

Somaweera Chandrasiri further revealed that the Joint Opposition paid 12,500 rupees to the SLTB to reserve the Shalika Ground for their May Day rally.

However, the SLTB has notified the Joint Opposition in a letter, about their inability to provide the ground.

Somaweera Chandrasiri said that the Joint opposition will take legal actions against SLTB for the matter.

Meanwhile, SLTB chairman Ramal Siriwardena told Hiru News that Joint Opposition made the reservation to conduct a meeting where as it was later revealed that a May Day rally will be conducted instead.

SLTB chairman further said that Shalika ground is dedicated to conduct special events for school children where as such political events spoil the venue.
