A 3 month period of common amnesty has been declared for Sri Lankan workers overstaying to return home from Saudi Arabia.

The Foreign Employment Bureau stated that the amnesty will start on March 29th.

All Sri Lankans who are staying in Saudi Arabia without residential visa and others staying there by violating international border laws can leave the country without any punishment.

Saudi authorities have warned that stern legal action will be implemented against illegal migrant workers after the end of this amnesty period.

Meanwhile, Foreign Employment Bureau stated that it will implement a program in collaboration with the Sri Lankan mission in Saudi Arabia to bring down all Sri Lankan illegal migrants from Saudi Arabia.
