GMOA threatens to continue its island wide strike which was launched on five issues including peoplization of Malabe Private Medical School and against the police attack on IUSF protestors.

GMOA General Secretary Dr. Naveen de Soyza said at a media conference today that this decision was taken at the central working committee meeting.

Meanwhile, a tense situation erupted in parliament this afternoon when leader of the house Lakshman Kiriella expressed his views during the adjournment debate over the police attack on IUSF protestors and subsequent strike launched by GMOA.

MP Dinesh Gunawardana moved the debate and MP Ramesh Pathirana, Ashu Marasinghe and Sriyani Wijewickrama were among those who expressed their views during the debate.

Addressing the house, JVP MP Sunil Handunnetti said that his party is ready to take clubs into their hand if the government attempts to crush student struggles in this manner.

After minister Rajitha Senarathna made the concluding speech, the house was adjourned for July 4th.
