Motorcar collides with a train in Omanthai leaving four dead

A motorcar has collided with a train at an unprotected level crossing in Panrikkeithakulam in Omanthai – Vavuniya.

It is reported that the motorcar has collided with the express train plying from Jaffna to Matara at around 10.30 AM today, leaving four women dead.

Another two individuals who sustained injuries in the accident have been admitted to Vavuniya Hospital.

A 10 year old child who was also in the motorcar at the time of the incident has got thrown out of the vehicle.

Our correspondent stated that although the child has not been injured, he is currently in a state of shock.
