Four police officers of the Anuradhapura Police have been suspended for failing to carry out investigations into an incident where a 13 year old girl was raped in Anuradhapura.

Investigations carried out by a special investigations unit found that these officers did not fulfil their duties.

Accordingly police media spokesperson SP Ajith Rohana confirmed that the IGP suspended these four officers.

The suspension was given to the OIC of the minor complaints division, the OIC of the Women and Children’s Division and two other officers of the Anuradhapura Police.

Meanwhile, 9 police officers including the Chief Inspector of the Western Province Intelligence Unit have been transferred by the IGP based on service requirements.
