7 killed in four months due to lightning; Sun at peak in Ratmalana and Adam's Peak
The National Disaster Management Centre says that within the past four months seven persons were killed due to lightning.
The Disaster Management Centre said that these days there was a greater tendency for increase of lightning strikes in coincidence with rains accompanied by thunderstorms.
Disaster Management Centre Deputy Media Director Sarath Laal Kumara told our news team that due to the tremor condition caused by lighting another 10 persons had been hospitalized being subjected to various accidents.
The meteorology department states that Showers or thundershowers will be fairly widespread during the afternoon and night.
Showers can be expected at a few places in the Southern and Uva provinces during the morning too.
There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.
On the apparent northward relative motion of the sun, it is going to be directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka during 05th and 15th of April in this year.
The nearest towns of Sri Lanka over which the sun is overhead today are Rathmalana, Sripada, Kubukkakana and Radalla about 12:13 noon.
