The Police Narcotics Bureau has provided information about two suspicious containers to the Indian Narcotics Control Bureau after a stock of cocaine was discovered onboard a vessel at Colombo port yesterday.

DIG Ajith Rohana stated that the vessel has unloaded the two containers at Port of Munra in India prior to departing for Colombo.

Cocaine with a face value of 12 billion rupees was seized from a vessel docked at the Colombo Port yesterday.

Police said this is the highest amount of narcotics ever seized by authorities in the South Asian region.

The particular vessel which began its journey from Ecuador on October 12 had travelled past Belgium, India, and Saudi Arabia before it reached Colombo.
