The United National Party alleges that the government is planning to hold Provincial Council elections in the North Central, Eastern and Sabaragamuwa Provinces before the due date in order to cover up for their defeat at the Geneva Human Rights Council sessions.
UNP MP P Harrison stated that the government can not hold free and fair elections until they establish the Elections and other independent commissions.
The MP also stated that the government should be forced to establish all independent commissions before holding an election.
He was speaking at a function held in Anuradhapura yesterday.
